Waste. Fraud. Abuse.

For the sake of this short rant, we will consider those three words as one threat to America, for the conservation of space.

It’s time we all learned fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) is not a new, momentary, correctable problem. In fact, we need to  admit we can’t “eliminate” it. We can just do the best we can to mitigate it.

America’s economy is a Capitalist economy. AI describes Capitalism as “an economic system where individuals or businesses own the means of production and make decisions about what, how, and for whom to produce, with the goal of generating a profit. Key features include private property, free markets, competition, and relatively limited government intervention”

As you read this description, did the term “government intervention” seem to be in the wrong sentence with the words “free market”? And how about the words “relatively limited”? There are two major ways governments can intervene in any economy, with the end result in both often more of a hybrid mix.

One is by proactively deciding “what, how, and whom to produce for”, and make those decisions before any production starts. Picture a government directed economy much like China and Russia. (Loaded with FWA, by the way.)

Two is by monitoring “what, how, and for whom to produce” after production, and then setting a regulation for further production. Picture a business making and selling poison as a health cure. After a few deaths, a government would (hopefully) stop that business and regulate the future manufacture and sale of poison. Plus truth in packaging and advertising.

Another ambiguous term is “free markets”.  What free markets want is to be able to get away with making and selling poison marked as a health cure, only stopping when enough consumers stop buying it due to “competition”, an innocuous term defining how consumers “learn” about the product’s real properties (death) from the “free market” activity and stop purchasing. Picture a “consumer group”, after “X” number of deaths, organizing and advising people not to buy the “health cure”.

Neat. Tidy. Understand? The Theory is easy to understand, when we add FWA, some realism, to the plot, things get muddled.

FWA has been around since cavemen (Cavepeople?). Picture one caveman (Lou) desiring the other caveman’s (Abbot) food. Lou points to the sky, Abbott looks up, and Lou swipes the mammoth rib from Abbot’s hands. Fraud. Or Lou has some tasty berries, and Abbot has another meaty rib. Lou offers the berries to trade for the rib. Abbot declines, so Lou throws the berries away. A female nearby (Phyllis) has neither meat or berries and goes hungry. Waste. (Yes, a female was used on purpose.)

Phyllis finds the berries, cleans them up, and offers them to both Lou and Abbott as “fresh”. This could be both abuse and/or fraud. Abuse comes from using something for bad effect or purpose, so we’ll say Phyllis is abusing the current fireside free-market system.

The real point is as long as human beings are involved in any economic system, FWA will be a companion and will factor in the system’s functions. Even in Communism’s directed system. FWA is historical, unrelenting, and maybe important? Like plecos (sucker fish) cleaning the aquarium?

What can be done about FWA? First, it is very, very ignorant of both the nature of man and history of capitalism to think you can root it out, entirely. Trump, Musk and DOGGIE say they are doing it, but all they are doing is throwing out the bathwater with the baby, and new bathwater will get just as dirty very quickly no matter what baby you wash in it. That’s life when money and power are involved.

Free Markets need regulatory activity to work best for the population. Free Markets work best with post-activity government intervention. It’s akin to weeding a garden, as long as the weeds don’t infect the regulatory system. But you know how weeds are…same as FWA.

As small government MAGAns, and Republicans look to shrink the government and regulatory intervention, all hell is going to break lose as man’s (better? Nooo) nature is given free rein. Trump and Musk, however, are not being ignorant of human nature and history, they are using it to their advantage. They know a small government and a diminished regulatory framework is good for Trump and Musk, and people like them. At least 5 pre-2025 government “interventions” in Musk’s potentially illegal activities are now moot, as there is no one and no framework to investigate him. Ditto Trump.

And a large part of America still thinks Trump is good for them. Those are the people ignorant and unaware, with no grasp of mankind’s FWA history.

FWA can be caught and corrected, but never completely eliminated as long as man (and maybe a woman or two) see dollars signs and political power in whatever system they think they can manipulate. Know that, understand that, and don’t look away when it happens. In the meantime, profound waste has become normalized: compare professional sports salaries to your local teachers/cops/firemen. The Free Market at its finest.

And please, don’t fire the weeders. They are our only hope.

America, the beautiful? The Great?

I awoke in the middle of the night, alarmed, then saddened, then in a panic about America. It’s a place I’ve inhabited and loved and criticized, demonstrated against and then accepted, but always a country with the historic ability to survive the worst impulses of each new generation. We will survive.

But this time? I no longer see the Trump presidency as a 4-year pandemic we will recover from when the political system resets itself and heals its wounds.

In 12 months, or less, our democratic (Small “d”) political system will no longer exist. The Republican Party, historically a dedicated and patriotic foe of the Democratic Party, is already extinct.

Trump is putting in place Billionaire yes-men/women who will do whatever he wants. (If they aren’t billionaires when Trump appointed them, they may be soon.)  At the same time, he is destroying, neutering, and obliterating any person, department, or institution standing in his way. And he’s doing it at record speed, getting everything in place to defy the 2026 midterms.

His press secretary reveals the plan with every statement she makes: obscure, deny, deflect and counter attack every, single truth. Her job description? Truth will be what she is told to say it is. Trump put her in place to render the free press ineffective. That “free press” cannot handle someone who lies, distorts, and fabricates so much the press cannot keep pace. As the free press spins in circles over here, Trump does what he wants over there.

The Trump Plan involves a massive amount of snookery and public-facing deception. The sheer volume of lies and atrocious behavior will overwhelm the 260 million people who did not vote for him in 2024, and they will wear down, look away, and allow him to do what he wants. It’s a form of public, Chinese Water Torture.

Most Americans do not realize the extent of the changes already made. DOGE is not a government efficiency finder, but a money finder and re-applier. Stop spending money on Voice of America and spend that “saved” money on bribes to foreign countries to take back immigrants. Spend formerly legally appropriated money on illegal activities like flying “terrorists” back to any country receiving the Trump Bribes. (Why else would El Salvador accept hundreds of Venezuelan gang members?  And will these “terrorists” be released back into the world if Trump’s bribes stop? Is it possible our newly-muscled border watchers will see these terrorists, again? Are the deportees even terrorists/gang members? Do you know?

And the March 21, 2025 $20 Billion Trump just gave Boeing for the new F-47 Fighter? Here’s a transparent description of the total cost from Trump, himself: “We’ve given an order for a lot. We can’t tell you the price.”

DOGE? Attack!

Billionaires are buying into the Trump Agenda because they see lower taxes, less regulation, and ultimately the ability to do whatever they want, when ever they want to do it.

And this will go on for at least four years, or until The King dies of natural causes. Then, the fight for the crown will lead to more Un-American activities until a new king is crowned.

Is this what 77 million voters wanted?

Even today, after 2 months of the expedited plan, the average, Fox-informed American will say “Yes.”

So be it. As they like to say, “Elections have consequences.”

Recently, Stephen Miller was on Fox News calling one of his critics a “moron”,  a “degenerate”, and “stupid”. The lame stream, mainstream, legacy media Fox News presenter just giggled. Yes, Fox is lame-steam, mainstream media.

On the comedy side of things: as Trump, Miller, Musk, and related antagonists invent new monikers for all who disagree with them, Musk threatens lawsuits for someone calling him names. And Trump settles old grudges with the unlimited, emperor-like powers Trump says voters granted him. And the Supremes** will back him up.

Make America Grate Again.

Believe this if you can: I hope I’m wrong. Really, really, wrong. I fervently hope this post is just more of the Trump Derangement Syndrome, the mental condition a Minnesota Republican lawmaker wants to write into law.

Bet I’d be happier about things if I was deranged. For fun, look up the “Oxford Languages” definition for deranged. It will sound familiar…like someone we all know…

** Apologies to Diana Ross and the rest.

Men, Money, and…Corruption?

Spring is near and it is bringing with it a sense of humor. Thank God.

I stumbled across this quote from a 96 year-old man who sounds liberal, but truth often sounds liberal: “The world is a mysterious and confusing place. If you are not willing to be confused, you become a mere replica of someone else’s mind.” -Noah Chomsky.

How funny is that?

You may have read here, ad nauseum, Americans have gotten so smart about everything. Sadly, the less education you have the more you know as experts are overly educated and dangerous. Come on, we have a billionaire, reality TV star as President now. If that’s not funny…

Now, after the above quote and my newly recovered sense of humor, it makes sense why people being smart bothers me: they’re missing out on life and ruining it for the rest of us who are confused.

An earlier Steven Wright line (Dr. Steven Wirght, BTW) ties it together precisely: “A conclusion is the place where you get tired of thinking.”

Americans are really, really tired of thinking.

Here’s an exercise for us all. Find someone with your opposite views of the world and try to talk like them. Sean Hannity and Alina Habba have done it perfectly ironically in their latest remarks on Fox. Google it and watch them snicker about stupid “other people”. It’ll make you laugh so hard you’ll gag.

MAGAns will conclude who the Other People are. Democrats may conclude the opposite. And away we go. Conclusions.

There is merit in knowing how little you know, and you can make a living at it. Ask Christopher Lloyd who does it on purpose, and Sarah Palin. Wait, just Christopher. (All young people google Taxi.)

What does all this have to do with Men? And Money?

Our Capitalist monetary system makes it easy for greedy Men with no conscience to make tons of money off people who “reached conclusions”. Trump merchandising is an obvious example, but the Left’s examples are subtler, and just as pernicious. (A couple weeks ago, an email from The Harris “something” asking for money to pay off bills. There should be a charge for spam mail.)

And when Men make money, what do they do? They make more money. I had a good laugh this week when a news pundit said: “billionaires don’t care about making more money”. It’s funny because that is exactly what they do care about. I’d have been happy with the first million. But men are greedy. (Don’t ask, I know what you’re thinking. Blame J D Salinger and “A Perfect Day For Bananafish.” Do I have to say “google it” anymore? Aren’t you curious about how much you don’t know?)

The sad thing about greed is its ignorance of barriers. Men, again, take great delight in stepping over barriers, obliterating them, or in the modern case, re-defiling them, redefining them, I mean. One of our billionaire’s first firings were Inspector Generals in all Departments, the guys who were already investigating corruption. DOGE says they weren’t doing the job, right, I guess, so now Federal investigations into Trump are closed, as are the investigations into Musk, For good measure, Musk took out the CFPB and ended their investigations, as well.

I love the smell of Rooting Out Corruption early in a pre-spring morning. Humor. Pre-Spring hilarity. But not a single word about Corruption from DOGE. Is it just me or do you NOT hear the word, too? Waste, fraud, and abuse. By the billions. Corruption? None.

Most of the biggest scams in American History were perpetrated by men. Madoff. The Entire 2008 Financial Disaster. Tammany Hall. Enron. The Teapot Dome Scandal. Jim Jones.

Here’s another funny part: according to politicians welfare cheats are ruining our beloved country. And that damn Health Care for all idea…gotta go.

Maybe I google too much. Or I’m even dumber than I know I think I am…

Time for some conclusions.

A Big Sigh For Something

It’s been a while. Winter doldrums? Probably. That’s what I’m telling everyone. It’s been so long since snow and cold affected my mood. (Note: I spent a few minutes looking up if the winter weather “effected” me or “affected” me. Learn something new every day. Freshly fallen snow is a beautiful thing unless it won’t go away and more falls the next day, and states of emergency are called for and no one can go ANYWHERE AND NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING AND YOU HAVE TO JUST SIT THERE IN The Chair and wait…

Sorry. There is only so much (or so many feet) a person can handle…

Now that that** is off my chest, maybe it wasn’t all the snowflake’s fault. When confronted with the need to entertain yourself, there is only so much philosophy you can knead before your mind wanders back into the real world. The Real Trump World. Actually, it might not be Trump’s world which is really bothering me. It’s The Billionaires’ World.  There’s the problem. Often wonder what you would do if you had enough money to do anything you want? And do it over and over again? Elon’s 14 “reported” kids show what he is interested in when not designing cars, spaceships, satellites, and our government’s destruction. But what would YOU do?

Really. How did we get to a place where nothing has value since we have enough to pay the cost of anything. Is there anything money can’t buy, these days?

Of all the shortcomings made obvious by mankind’s history, the ability to be callous and indifferent to a poorer, weaker population is the most egregious, the most revealing of basic human nature. The amount of money estimated to raise every United States Citizen out of poverty (for one year) is about $175 billion. I have trouble with a figure so easily obtained, but let’s use it for now. If $175 billion dollars is doled out to raise the income of everyone under the poverty line to make their income go over the poverty line, it would take $175 billion. AI on google says Musk is estimated to be worth $433 billion. At the end of 2024. The Richest Man In The World.

If (not when) I were worth $433 billion, I’d try the experiment of giving away $175 billion to poor people and see what happens. Keep in mind Mush (sic. It’s a cute typo so it stays.) would still have $258 billion left to play…anything he wants. Or do it again, next year.

As for me, with my remaining $258 billion (yes, I am repeating it as often as possible), I’d build a big dome over my apartment complex and have my building be the only building in upstate New York not needing a snow plow. We’d have restaurants, gyms, pools, and…

Largesse and Noblis Oblige. Don’t read, here, anymore. Google those two terms. Homework.

A second contribution to the mood so dark I’ve named it “The Other Side of The Moon”, is how hard it is to understand people on the right. MAGAns are working tirelessly to make their brave, new world sound like a nice place to live, like the world is “just the way they want it”, and “Trump is doing exactly what he said he’d do.” Perfection. These are neighbors. Old friends. Fellow citizens who—for some reason—cannot fathom the destruction TRUSK (copywrite pending) is causing to the world, the country, to states, to cities, to towns, and to people who only wanted to have a good job for the rest of their lives. Federal workers are NOT Deep State Moles and conspirators. Really, they are not.

Aw, screw it. Daylight Savings Time is coming Sunday. Spring. Hope. Rebirth.

But, of what?

** Double that’s. My work here is done.

Is it Really what we’re told it is?

Trump and DOGGIE(sic) seem inordinately concerned with staging events, showing off fraud and waste. Wonder why?

A recent event was Musk Trumpeting the Social Security Administration (SSA) has over 18,000 listed citizens over 110 years old. Several over 150 years old.

“Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting social security,” he joked, reports the New York Post and Fox News.

Huh. Must be a real, true fraud if Fox is repeating it, right?

First, the database Musk was displaying as proof of fraud, is a list of all SSA numbers ever given out. It is NOT a list of everyone receiving SSA benefits. And numbers are only removed when SSA gets a certified death certificate. SSA knew about missing death certificates in 2015, by the way, and still has not cleaned the data base after Obama, Trump, and Biden presidencies. See? Republican tax cuts and attempts to hinder SSA activities worked!

Second, Musk used the standard “no-news” trick of not actually SAYING they were receiving benefits, but “suggesting” and then joking about it. Neat, right? Great Public relations trick.

But why do they need to do it?

Insecurity is the driving force in the MAGA movement. They are worried about EVERYTHING and lies help them cope. Since there are so many lies from the Insecure-In-Chief, it has to be made apparent to the rest of us that the lies are not lies. (See The Big Election Lie and how hard MAGA worked to support it. Specifically, Google “2000 Mules” and its legal history for an education in how far you need to bend over to support a Big Lie.) Oval Office events, with pomp and a captive press corps, are the best ways to look truthful when you lie, so we’ll see more of them.

But, again, why? The 77 million who voted for Trump are 22% of the American Population. That means Conservatives are a minority of Americans. The 75 million who voted for Harris are 21% of the population, another minority. My long-stated belief is that America is 30% Conservative, 30% Liberal, and 40% Independent. Both of our political parties represent a minority of the population. Independents have historically skewed to a liberal bias in presidential elections, however. That bias led to conservative crying and hand-wringing after Obama won a second term conservatives were sure he would lose decisively. The conservative lack of message and backbone was noticed by Trump and he seized the opening to become the Messiah of The Right.

But conservative insecurity still existed and they saw conspiracy everywhere, cranking up Q-anon, and building the Modern Republican Party Grievance Machine (MRPGM).

Trump and the MRPGM leaned into the heavy message of insecurity, and its partner, mistrust. Both Trump and MRPGM realized a message filled with anger and resentment has a greater impact than truth. Fox News got on board and the rest is history.

But conservatives are still insecure. Why does every employee in American government who does not kiss Trump’s large buttocks have to be fired? Even kitchen table psychiatrists know why. Same with MAGA. Their talk is about A Great America, but building it involves destruction, chaos, and pain. A true American Carnage, as Trump called it in his First Term Inauguration speech. Why?

The old, white American Male is threatened. I have never understood why males are so frantically against homosexuality, for example. One can guess.

And same sex marriage hurts who? And transgender life? You’d think those people were carrying monkeypox. So much was made of NCAA sports, when the truth is 40, 40, athletes out of 500,000, 500,000 were “estimated” to be trans athletes. 0.008 percent. But what a story for MRPGM, Trump, and Fox. And Nancy Mace. Wonder if there are any transgender MAGAns? If there are 77 million MAGA voters, times 0.008 equals 616,000 transgender Republicans.

Few American presidents worked well with the opposition party. But most American presidents have done the best they could for ALL Americans, while staying as true as they could to their own party ideals.

Except Number 47. Chaos and uncertainty for all!

The rush to action is another bow to insecurity. MAGA needs to get a lot done before the midterms when people (may) come to their senses. If Trump was so sure of 2026 Republican re-elections, he and Musk would take things slower, thinks things out, and install their new regime in phases instead of firing people willy-nilly. (Google “willy-nilly” for a laugh.)

2025 is proof insecurity does not lead to good decisions. AI says: “Insecurity and fear are the culprits behind five of the most common workplace missteps and missed opportunities.”

That AI is so smart. Must have been the Chinese one.

Why MAGA gets a bad rap

It’s hard for non-MAGA citizens to understand how MAGA citizens think. Here are some reasons why.

The new MAGA government bans Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs, and strives for a “merit based” approach to hiring and promotions. So, Donald Trump’s daughter in-law becomes head of the Republican Party. Trump’s largest donor becomes Co-President Musk. A Fox News Host becomes Secretary Of Defense. All government departments and agencies are ordered to find and remove any employees who will not be favorable to Trump. And Trump fires anyone who did their jobs and investigated him. Who will be the replacements for these employees? Merit, my ass.

Trump was a Democrat until he realized his style was better suited to the whiny Republican Party. All establishment Republicans naturally took offense and whined about Trump as inexperienced, and ill-suited for the Presidency. Until he won. Then they got on the gravy train.

Trump felt he was going to lose in 2016, so he pre-emptively campaigned about election integrity as an excuse for losing. When he won with the electoral the college trick, he had no choice but to continue the election lie and set up a commission, The Presidential Advisory Committee on Election Integrity. It met for 11 months and disbanded with no report or findings. In 2020, Trump ran again, and resumed his claims of voter fraud, amplified to crescendo when he actually lost. In over 60 court cases looking for voter fraud, brought to court by Trump’s legal team, the courts found none. But it had now become “The Big Lie”, and its repetition led to the insurrection of January 6, 2021. In 2024, however, MAGA supporters brought Trump back for another election and Trump won. With very few reports or claims of election fraud. It’s a miracle, right? Must be they found all that invisible voter fraud. Oh, and no insurrection.

Co-President Musk and his DOGGIE (sic) unilaterally tear apart departments funding medical research. The Republican Senator from Alabama, a staunch Trump supporter, complains: her state is losing funding and now whines the cuts should be more discriminatory. The Co-President and President don’t respond. Or did they?

In the last 20 years, and more so in the last 12, MAGA and Trump attacked the “liberal bias” of Main/Lame Stream Media. Meanwhile, the media specifically set up to spread CONSERVATIVE bias is never mentioned. One bias is better than another? In fact, being a member of Faux News appears to be a sure-fire way to get a job in the new MAGA government. Merit?

Last, my most often repeated bugaboo: The Mandate. Trump brought it up in 2016 when he lost the general election. He loves to repeat it. America’s population was 341 million people as of December 30, 2024. 77 million of those citizens voted for Trump. Mandate? Another Big Lie. Less than one quarter (22%) of the population voted for Trump/MAGA. And nearly as many (75 million) voted AGAINST it. The message? Screw everyone but MAGA.

Last one: Why do MAGA and The Modern Republican Party complain so much? Trump has never made a positive, uplifting speech about ALL of America. It’s always doom, gloom, and Biden/Obama’s fault. Who wants to live with a man constantly complaining about others? MAGA does.

And don’t forget the “grab ‘em by the pussy” remark from 2016. It’s mentioned because it is exactly what Trump is doing to America.

Repair and Recovery

The removal of natural bone and replacing it with titanium made a vast improvement in my quality of life. The surgery inspired a reassessment of a past, the re-measure of the present, and realignment of goals for the future. Doesn’t that sound nifty?

Before anyone asks me to write a self-help book, it should be noted the biggest driver of the self-examination has been the “down time” associated with recovery. The operation removing years of pain came with a requirement to sit and not move, not do anything, really, for “several” weeks as the incision heals, bruised tissues return to their original color, and the therapeutic drugs work their magic preventing clots and excessive bleeding.

There’s nothing to do but reflect, and it’s been fun to sit in The Chair and watch and read and think.

But the world didn’t stop and wait for me to get better. The world didn’t know I was recovering. It went on without me, all the while shoving its onward motion in my face with news and stories I couldn’t help but read. Some scientists want to “inject” diamond dust into the atmosphere to reflect sunlight and lower the Earth’s temperature. Trump wants to take The Panama Canal Back and annex Greenland. An 81 year old politician not named Biden stopped legislating and entered a nursing home, or “memory center”, without telling anyone. Soto signed with the Mets for a salary higher than some countries GDP. Musk…well, Musk is busy being Musk, an easily distracted, bored, multi-billionaire who knows how to fix America. BTW, if he gave $3 Billion to each state to do with what they want, it might make a difference.

All in all, the month of December has been an example of how important we think we are, followed by the sharp, direct, reminder of how important we aren’t. Sprinkled in this life lesson is some exceptions. For example, how important is toilet paper? Don’t answer, but I now know the man who invented one of the most important things in EVERYONE’S life was Joseph Gayetty, in 1857. His “invention” was “sold in flat sheets watermarked with his name.” It was also medicated to prevent hemorrhoids. His contribution to life is celebrated every minute of every day all over the world, and I’ll bet no one knows his name. For some really good reading about how the cleaning of our butts has changed through the ages, google it. If you have time…like I do.

So is this essay a lament or what? A celebration? A reveal of anything most of us don’t know already?

It is nothing. It is simply a grown man, sitting in a recliner, with nothing to do but ponder.

James Thurber would be proud. (Google him, too.)

Last T@#$% Column, promise

I can’t resist talking about how happy billionaires are over the Trump presidency. They are all giddy with excitement. Jubilant.

Why? To the rest of us, the “game” of making money is nice and distracting, but most of us “work” to get money. We make things. We fix things. We help others make things and fix things. We might even talk about how others make and fix things.

Not so in the Game of Money (GOM). In GOM the idea is to make as much money FROM other people as possible, and it’s even better if you don’t have to do any work. The Stock market, for example. Even those of us who work for our money, know you can make big bucks by betting correctly in the Stock Market. But we are careful to bet because we know we can lose, and when a worker loses money, it hurts.

But in GOM, a billionaire can bet one of his millions on a stock and if the stock comes in, the billionaire makes more millions. If the stock loses, the billionaire lost .001% of his worth. No pain. Imagine how it warps GOM for un-rich players.

Trump intends to skew GOM so billionaires can make more money, more millions, more billions. Lower taxes for me mean about $100 extra a month in income. Lower taxes in the GOM world, mean millions of dollars in new income for the billionaires.

Wonder what they’ll do with all that money? I’ll tell you. Most re-invest in GOM and make more.

Anyone of us can enter the GOM but how many of us see value in work? In helping others? In getting things done? In getting things fixed and running? I’ll bet most of the Trump voters are hard-working people who want that extra $100 a month. Sadly, the cost of that bonus is going to be steep.

Will Rogers labeled it “Trickle Down Economics” in response to then-president Hoover’s policies. Ronald Reagan picked it up in the 1980’s. “Trickle Down Economics” pretty much means that when the billionaires have taken as much as they want, some of the rest might trickle down…

What’s different this time is we have a new class of billionaires who don’t even care about “The Trickle”. Trump and Musk and their ilk just want more. And now it’s not just money but power, too. They talk of buying up entire companies and industries so they can shut them down. Entire existing Departments of Government, too, Shut them down.

It’s important to remember history. In the history of Capitalist America, the only thing standing between billionaire wanna-be-kings, (Carnegie, Mellon, et. al.) are laws, regulations, and enforcement by a centralized, powerful government.

Can you see why the billionaires now want to control the government, too? I can.

God help us non-billionaires, even the Trump voters.

Voting Conspiracies and Numbers

As with all presidential elections, there are lots of “stories” floating around.

From available data, subject to MINOR changes as votes are still being counted, here are some numbers:

In 2016 there were 157,596,000 registered voters. 136,787,187 voted. 20,808,813 registered voters DID NOT VOTE.

In 2020 there were 168,308,000 registered voters. 158,487.688 voted. 9,826,312 registered voters DID NOT VOTE. Factoid: the total number of votes cast in 2020 nearly equals the entire registered voter population in 2016. Conspiracy?

In 2024 there were 186,500.000 registered voters as of 9/2024 per USA FACTS. 140,980,281 voted. A staggering 45,519,719 registered voters DID NOT VOTE.

A deeper research to federal election sites will show where all 2016 and 2020 these numbers come from and keep in mind 2024 numbers are still incomplete, but close enough for this discussion.

One conspiracy story says there were 20 million extra votes in 2020, proof of fraud. Numbers prove that conspiracy is wrong.

Both Trump and Harris (Biden) lost votes from their 2020 numbers…so far. And that should be the big story. Over 40 million registered voters did not vote. Why did they register? Or was it older voters who did not vote? Or was it aliens?

The numbers show registration efforts by both parties were successful between 2020 and 2024. But getting the new registrants to vote, not so much. Why?

It’s interesting to note Harris and Clinton got nearly the same number of votes, 8 years apart. And Trump got fewer votes in his 2024 victory than his record haul in 2020, when he lost.

Deeper research will be conducted by smarter people smarter than me but my opinion is since Harris in 2024 and Clinton in 2016 got the same number of votes, and Biden, got 13 million more in his 2020 election, there is a gender gap in the American voting system. Trump’s support was basically consistent with increased voter registration and his small 2024 loss, may be made up by late counting, making his vote totals understandable.

Numbers will never explain why over 62 million people voted for Trump not once, not twice, but probably three times. One of these days there will have to be a discussion on what may or may not disqualify a candidate from elected office. 2024 proved there is nothing, now.

Of note, Trump’s election sent the stock market soaring as corporations expect less regulation, lower taxes, and larger profits from the Trump years. For fun, google how much money billionaires made IN ONE DAY, from that market increase. Musk made the most, IN ONE DAY! Google it.
